Let's start with what deserves most of the blame: the TikTok Shop. The emphasis on Shop content has two bad effects. AdvertisementThe first is the simple fact that I'm being shown lots more low-quality videos that I'm not actually interested in. Tiktok / ScreenshotIt used to be that TikTok would try to convince me I had undiagnosed ADHD; now, it just insists I want to buy Halara brand pants. Reels is still way worse than TikTok: The content is awful and the algorithm is stupider.

De Meo has targeted a valuation of 8-10 billion euros ($8.6-10.7 billion) for the initial public offering (IPO) of Ampere, which has already been delayed once and is now slated for spring 2024. Two of the sources said Renault was unlikely to go ahead with the IPO if the valuation falls below 7 billion euros, and one said the cut-off point could be closer to 6 billion euros. UBS analysts have valued Ampere at just 3-4 billion euros, and others have questioned the rationale of listing the EV business to raise funds. On Wednesday, De Meo will argue his case for what could be the first attempt by a traditional automaker to unlock value from an EV business via an IPO. Over the first nine months of 2023, Renault brand EV sales fell by around 5% in Europe, having been up 2.5% in the first half, weighed down by a limited line-up.

Wonder" - the first entirely new instalment in the almost 40-year-old side-scrolling series in a decade - within two weeks of its Oct. 20 launch. That is the best performance of any "Super Mario" title, Nintendo said, as it takes advantage of the Switch install base of more than 130 million units and interest generated by a barnstorming animated movie featuring the moustachioed plumber. The comments come a day after Nintendo reported it sold 6.84 million Switch units in the first six months of the financial year that started in April, a slight increase on the same period a year earlier. Nintendo also announced on Wednesday "Super Mario" creator Shigeru Miyamoto is developing a live action adaptation of the "Zelda" franchise.

SEOUL, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) and affiliate Kia Corp's (000270.KS) third-quarter earnings will reflect provisions totalling a combined 2.9 trillion won ($2 billion), they said on Tuesday. The costs include provisions related to their Theta GDI engines, the South Korean automakers said in regulatory filings. Hyundai Motor said a provision of 1.36 trillion won would be reflected in its earnings, while Kia flagged a hit of 1.54 trillion won. In 2020, Hyundai and Kia together made 3.6 trillion won in provisions related to engine issues. Hyundai Motor is scheduled to report its July-September earnings next Monday, while Kia has not yet announced when it will report its third quarter results.
